Samir Roy (b. 1961) completed his Diploma in Fine Arts from Indian College of Arts and Draughtsmanship in 1988. He received Senior Fellowship, Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2007, Award by the West Bengal State Academy and Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 1999, 41st National Akademi Award (Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi) in 1998, All India Fine Arts and Craft Society Award, New Delhi, 1996-97. He has had a number of solo exhibitions that include 2018 The Harrington Street Arts Centre, Kolkata, Akar Prakar, Kolkata, Sanstache Gallery, Mumbai 2008,   Shridharini Gallery, New Delhi 1999, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, Shridharini Gallery, New Delhi 1996, Shridharini Gallery, New Delhi 1996, Birla Academy of Arts & Culture, Kolkata, 1994. He has participated in Painting workshop at Navisad, Yugoslavia, 1997, participated in Arts Acre Festival of Art – A National Art Workshop, along with 30 other senior artists from across the country, 2015 Participated and presented a ‘Master Class’ at Athina 4 International Painting Symposium organized by UNESCO in Athens, Greece, 2017. His works are in numerous collections in India and abroad that includes National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Smederevo National Museum, Yugoslavia Smederevo Assembly, Yugoslavia; Glenbara Museum, Japan; Govt. College of Art, New Delhi; NCERT, New Delhi; Art Today Gallery, New Delhi; Bhava Atomic Centre, Kolkata; Museum of Bengal Modern Art, Kolkata.
